I wanted to make a little something for a third birthday gift(for my baby cousin), so the other night I stitched up this pretty plush kitty. Then I had the thought that I would share the project since it is so simple yet cute!
How to:
1. Embroider kitty, using pattern provided, onto a medium weight cotton (thick enough that you can't see where your thread has traveled between stitches). I did the back-stitch for everything except the nose and eyes which are satin stitch and the little french knots by the whiskers.
2. Cut out around your kitty, leaving 3/4" from the edge of your stitching. Choose a pretty piece of printed cotton quilting fabric (I chose this little floral print) and cut out an identical piece for the back.
3. Sew right sides together 1/4" from the edge, leaving a 1" opening along the bottom. Clip the curves ( I used pinking shears to do this) and flip right side out through the opening.
4. Stuff with kapok and stitch the opening closed. Ta-da! You have a cute little embroidered kitty plush!
Here is the little pattern which you could of course choose to embroider onto to something else like a little shirt or backpack or bib or pretty much anything else!
happy sewing!
