from the sweatshop

Well, not really. You see "the sweatshop" is something we joke about when Nifty production kicks into high gear (like right about now, getting ready for the holidays/craft show). In actuality, its just me working away in my cute little apartment with all the amenities, so I can drink lots of cups of tea and watch Masterpiece Mystery on my laptop while I sew. It also has nice benefits like wearing my pajamas all day because no one else is here to know. So all of that to say...there are some new things in the shop because in the past 48 hours I have made 10 little lion men and 6 cakes. All photographed and everything. Talk about being productive! Good thing because November 19th is now less than a month away...

Yipee! The second book I've contributed to is now available for preorder! I had two projects in the first One-Yard Wonders and now I'll have a pattern included in Fabric-by-Fabric One-Yard Wonders.

finds: beautiful buttons

A while ago (sometime over the summer I think?) I scored a nice little bag of pretty buttons on even prettier cards for just 25 cents at the thrift shop.

How come buttons don't come so beautifully packaged nowadays?!? I look at these and feel so inspired!

another treasure from the attic

Yep. I found something else in my grandmother's attic. This time it's a wonderful wool crochet granny square afghan. It needs a little repair in a few spots but it is going to keep me nice and warm this winter. It was made by my great-great-aunt Ruth, who obviously had a very nice sense of color! After attempting to make my own afghan (which is much smaller than this one) I can totally appreciate how much work went into it.

finds: hexagons

I recently purchased a set of 20 hexagon quilt blocks with the hope that someday I will turn them into a quilt. Someday being the key word there because it is going to take a lot of hand piecing (aka tons of time) to make that happen. In the meantime, I am just loving the pretty vintage fabrics they are made from!

That's right---33 finger puppets, all stitched up and ready for the craft show! One more thing crossed off my to-do list. I had ample time to do all the handwork on my way to and from Maine this past weekend and last night I stitched them up on my trusty sewing machine.

I just returned from a weekend trip to Maine where I...

1. went to the coast

unbelievable waves (& wind) at Scoodic Point

2. ate some lobster

very tasty.

3. scored some vintage treasures (photos to come in another post! promise.)
