Here is a little quick and easy way to add some holiday cheer---embroidered paper ornaments. So very simple--this would be a great project to do with kids!
What you need: card-stock (I used kraft paper), scissors, embroidery floss, needle, pencil & twine.
How to:
1. On the backside of your paper lightly draw out your design in pencil.
2. Use your needle to poke all the holes you'll need to stitch your design according to your pattern.
3. Thread your needle with a looooooooong piece of embroidery floss and stitch your design (I did a back stitch).
4. Trim down your paper to the desired size. Poke another hole at the top for the hanger. I think the backs of embroidery are fascinating but if you don't want the back to be seen cut another piece of paper to the same size and glue it on (another idea: embroider it first to make a two sided ornament). Cut a length of twine and thread it through the top and tie to make your hanger.
5. Hang it on your tree! or give it as a gift, or make it into a pretty gift tag, or tuck it in a Christmas card...
