I started working on this granny square throw around Thanksgiving 2010 and now it is finally complete!
I also made the coordinating turquoise pillow last week so that my couch wouldn't be so plain. Yay! for getting things accomplished! Although I feel like a lot of time went into it is still seems small for soooo much work. Oh well it is the perfect back of the couch/ lap sized throw so I am pretty happy with it.
I've made some more progress on this dollie girl. It is nice to challenge myself to something more complex and to give myself the time to fully develop my ideas. For me it is a nice practice in slow design: taking time to make intentional choices and craft it with care. I still want to make her a coat and shoes from wool felt and then I think I will call her done. Its my goal to finish her up and then go back to making some more things for my shop assembly line style, but this little break from that mentality has been nice. It is also bringing me back to the days of sewing outfits for my dolls and stuffed animals when I was little. Fun fun!
Sorry for the lack of posting lately...here are some various things I've been working on...
I knit my very first sock--now I have to make this striped one's mate so I can wear them!
I started working on a new doll design for an heirloom quality jointed doll....so far I have the body/face/hair-do done so now it's time to do arms, legs, and clothes for this little one! I am very excited!
and this project---I am so close to being done with my granny squares! It's been a little more than a year since I started so it is about time that it is finished up so it can take up a residence on the back of my couch.
I made another little embroidered birthday gift. This time, I based the pattern on a vintage embroidery transfer found at an antique store.
The linen fabric is from Ikea && the green cotton, that I embroidered the stem with, came from a shop in Scotland. It is more similar to a chunky baker's twine than embroidery floss. It was quite fun to have an excuse to embroider!
The cloudy/rainy/snowy weather let up for just a tiny bit this morning and although I made my best attempt to photograph while the bit of sunshine lasted, I wasn't quite quick enough. So it was back to photographing in the cloudy cloudy cloudy weather.
I took some more photos of this guy...
and his friends!
and I realized that there were a few little bear friends left from the craft show that weren't in my shop so I photographed them and listed them too!
I had a custom request to make another one of these and now perhaps I am considering making a few more....
I guess I"ll put it on my to-do list with all the other things I want to sew. Right after I finish reorganizing my studio space. (It looked like a tornado had hit it after the crazy busy holiday season!)
