Okay here is my first little recap of Sweden....
On the first day, we arrived in Stockholm and took in the city. Here are some photos from Gamla Stan which is the old part of the city.
We saw lots of old buildings, did some shopping, stopped for some hot drinks in a cute cafe, and generally enjoyed the fact we were in Sweden (and it was sunny!).
Here is the royal palace--some excitement during our trip was that a crown princess was born. It was big news!
Day two was spent at museums--the Nordiska Museet (a cultural museum), Junibacken (a fairy tale place inspired by the works of Astrid Lindgren), and lastly, as pictured above, the Vasa Ship. We spent one more day in the city and then it was time to head north!
We took a train to the town of Mora, which was where the finish for all of the Vasaloppet Week races(and where we were staying for the next 4 days). Here is ma mere and I with the largest Dala Horse.
This is what the finish looked like. I took this photo the evening before my race. Let me tell you, after skiing 30km to get here it looked pretty good.
And here is one last photo of Mora--quite a picaresque place. I plan on a few more posts about my Swedish adventure (including my fibers guide to Stockholm!)
For now...
