A while ago (sometime over the summer I think?) I scored a nice little bag of pretty buttons on even prettier cards for just 25 cents at the thrift shop.
How come buttons don't come so beautifully packaged nowadays?!? I look at these and feel so inspired!

Yep. it's all done. This little quilt has taken a spin through the washer to make it complete (and have a wonderful crinkled texture!). I chose to use a pale pretty pink fabric for the binding, and a beautiful charcoal linen on the back.

I love old black and white photos. They are just so beautiful to me. On my last trip to Vermont I went searching through my nana's attic and came across these fun old photos of women in my family. Here is a sampling of my favorites...
My mother when she was four years old with her dolls.
My grandmother with her hair bleached with peroxide--so cute!
My grandmother and her dog Kelt. I think I look a lot like my nana.
My great-great-aunt Ruth. Gotta love the apron and curlers look!

This little collection is a group of thimbles from women in my family going back several generations. I received them as a Christmas gift, nicely stacked in their little box.
I love that it also included a little written history of whose thimble belonged to whom. When this collection was gifted to my grandmother(who in turn gave it to me) there was a to/from label with a note suggesting that it is for the "what not shelf".

Okay so I'll admit it--I'm a bit of a pack rat. But thanks to that I have lots of pretty collections. In the most recent edition of Martha Stewart Living there was a great section on people's collections (two of which are blogs that I follow!) and it got me to thinking that I should document my collections as well.
